From Mentorship to Ownership.
Jordan Consultants was never just the result of a business plan. It began with a shared commitment to learning, mentorship, and mastering the craft of Specifications.
Holly Jordan and J. Peter Jordan first connected through the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) while Holly was preparing for her Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) exam. J. Peter served as her tutor, guiding her through the complexities of Specifications, industry standards, and coordination. What started as a professional mentorship quickly evolved into a lasting partnership, and within two years, they were married. That partnership would become the foundation for everything that followed.
In 2006, an opportunity emerged that would shape the future of the firm. A respected husband-and-wife Specification consulting practice, Martensen and Associates, led by Martin and Judy Martensen, was preparing to transition ownership. Recognizing both the responsibility and potential, Holly and J. Peter stepped forward to carry that legacy forward.

What sets Jordan Consultants apart is the parallel at its core. A mentor-turned-partner relationship between Holly and J. Peter, and the continuation of a husband-and-wife firm passed from one generation to the next. That continuity still shapes the company today.

2006
Jordan Consultants was founded by J. Peter and Holly Jordan in Houston, Texas.
2011
J. Peter Jordan advanced to FCSI — recognition for leadership, education, and service within the Construction Specifications Institute.
2015
Holly Jordan advanced to FCSI, establishing Jordan Consultants' leadership as a dual-Fellow firm and reinforcing credibility and influence in the industry.
April 2024
Holly Jordan returns from Perkins & Will to rejoin Jordan Consultants; the firm transitions from a Houston base to a Dallas-Fort Worth-based practice, marking the beginning of a planned leadership transition and the next phase of growth.
July 2025
J. Peter Jordan retires; Holly Jordan becomes the President of Jordan Consultants. The transition reflects continuity in technical expertise, CSI leadership, and commitment to education and mentorship.
2026
Jordan Consultants acquires SpexResources, expanding technical resources, service capabilities, and market reach.
Why the Cheetah?
People often ask why Jordan Consultants has a cheetah in its logo and branding. The answer is surprisingly simple.
Shortly after moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Holly had a client meeting in Houston during an unexpected cold snap. Assuming Houston would be warmer than Dallas, she left her winter coats at home. When temperatures dropped, she found herself needing a coat and stopped at a department store to buy one.
The result was a $19.99 cheetah-print coat. It was oversized and bulky, shedding fake fur everywhere.
On the way to the meeting, Holly picked up a teammate who looked at the coat and immediately asked, "You're not wearing that thing to the meeting, are you?" Holly's response was simple: "The client knows me. They won't even notice the coat."
As it turns out, everyone noticed the coat.
What started as a $19.99 emergency purchase quickly became a running joke. Before long, cheetah print had become part of the Jordan Consultants culture. Over the years it found its way into company events, gifts, decorations, apparel, and eventually our branding.
Today, the cheetah serves as a reminder of who we are. We take our work seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. We believe great relationships are built on expertise, trust, authenticity, and occasionally a little bit of fun.
